Terms and Conditions
Effective September 20, 2026. Applies to craftonpress.com and every Crafton Press service.
These terms are the agreement between you and Crafton Press, LLC, a Missouri limited liability company based in Lee's Summit, Missouri ("Crafton Press," "we," "us"). They cover the website at craftonpress.com, the Sample Chapter, our book packages, the referral program, and the text messages and emails we send. By using the site, submitting a form, booking a call, or buying anything from us, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or our services.

1. What we do
Crafton Press turns a pastor's or teacher's existing material (sermon series, podcast episodes, teaching sessions, notes, and interviews) into a finished, published book in the author's own voice. Our process includes the Voice Print™, Story Sessions™, Throughline™, and Seed and Harvest™ methods, human editing, typesetting, cover design, and publication on Amazon under the Crafton Press imprint. The specific deliverables for each service are described on craftonpress.com at the time you order and in any written proposal we send you. If a proposal and this page disagree, the signed proposal wins for that project.
2. The Sample Chapter
The Sample Chapter is the starting point for every Crafton Press book. You send us a link to, or a file of, one message from the series you have in mind. We produce a typeset chapter with your name on it, a one-page Voice Print™ excerpt, and a 20-minute Chapter Review call.
- Price. $97 through December 31, 2026. $197 starting January 1, 2027. The price you pay is the price shown at checkout.
- Turnaround. Our target is seven days from the day we receive usable material (a working link or file with clear audio, plus any notes you send). If a link is broken, private, or the audio is unusable, the seven days start when we receive something we can work with, and we'll tell you right away.
- Credit toward a book. If you commission any book package within 60 days of receiving your Sample Chapter, the full amount you paid for the Sample Chapter is deducted from the package price.
- What it is not. The Sample Chapter is a demonstration of what your book would sound like. It is not a promise that we'll publish the full book, and we may decline a full project for any reason (see section 4).
3. Book packages
Book packages (currently the Pocket Book, the Series Book, and the Full Book, with pricing shown on craftonpress.com) are governed by a written proposal that lists the scope, deliverables, timeline, and payment schedule for your project. Timelines depend on you getting us your material and your feedback on time; delays on your side extend our dates by at least the same amount. Each package includes a set number of revision rounds, stated in the proposal. Additional rounds, additional chapters, and changes in scope after work begins are billed at the rate in the proposal or quoted in writing before we do the work.
4. Your material and your promises to us
When you send us sermons, recordings, notes, slides, photos, or anything else ("your material"), you promise that:
- You own it, or you have permission from whoever does (including your church, if the church owns the recordings) to have it made into a book that you will own and sell.
- It doesn't infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy rights, and you'll tell us if it quotes other works at length so we can handle attribution or permissions.
- Stories about real people are ones you have the right to tell. If someone in a story could reasonably be harmed or identified, tell us and we'll work with you on how it's handled.
You give us a license to use your material to produce your book and the related deliverables. We may decline or stop any project that we believe involves material you don't have the right to use, that is unlawful, or that we're not the right fit for. If we stop a project for those reasons, section 8 explains what is refunded.
5. Who owns what
- You own your book. The manuscript, the final book files, and the copyright in the text belong to you. We don't take a share of your copyright.
- We own our method and our name. Voice Print™, Story Sessions™, Throughline™, Seed and Harvest™, the Crafton Press name and logo, our templates, our internal tools, and our process documents belong to Crafton Press. You get the results, not the tools.
- Cover art and design. Cover designs and interior layouts we create are licensed to you for your book in all editions and formats. Stock images and fonts are used under their own licenses, which we'll pass along to you.
- Portfolio use. Unless you tell us in writing before publication that you'd rather we didn't, we may show your book's cover, title, and short excerpts as examples of our work.
6. Royalties and Amazon
Books are published through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) under the Crafton Press imprint. Every dollar of royalties is paid to your account. To make that work, the KDP account is set up in your name (or your church's), with your tax and bank details, and we operate inside it only to publish and update your book. We never hold your royalties. Amazon's terms, pricing rules, and payment schedules apply to every sale and are outside our control. Print costs, Amazon's share, and any advertising you choose to run are your costs.
7. Payment
The Sample Chapter is paid in full at checkout. Book packages are paid on the schedule in your proposal, typically a deposit to begin and milestone payments as the book moves through drafting, design, and publication. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Prices are in U.S. dollars. Invoices not paid within 15 days of their due date pause the project until paid. If a price on the website is obviously wrong, we can cancel the order and refund you rather than honor the mistake.
8. Refunds and cancellation
Our full Refund Policy is part of these terms. In short: the Sample Chapter is fully refundable until we begin work on it, and always refundable if we can't produce a chapter from what you sent. Book packages can be cancelled at any time; you pay for the milestones completed and any milestone in progress, and the rest is refunded.
9. Referral program
When you refer another pastor through the site, we send that person one email in your name and don't add them to any list unless they ask. Credits work as described on craftonpress.com at the time of the referral: currently $100 off any book you commission for each referred pastor who purchases a Sample Chapter, increasing to $350 if that pastor goes on to commission a book, up to $1,000 total. Credits apply to your own book package, are not paid in cash, aren't transferable, and don't expire. A referral counts only if the pastor was not already in our records. We can pause or end the program at any time; credits earned before then are honored. Please don't submit anyone who hasn't agreed to hear from us.
10. Text messages (SMS)
Crafton Press sends text messages only to people who have opted in. This section is our SMS program's terms.
Program name: Crafton Press Updates.
What you'll receive: Messages about your Sample Chapter or book project (confirmations, when your chapter is ready, questions from your editor), appointment reminders for calls you book, replies to questions you text us, and occasional news about Crafton Press if you've asked for it.
How you opt in: By checking the SMS consent box on a form or checkout page on craftonpress.com, or by texting us first. The full program description is at craftonpress.com/sms. Consent is not a condition of buying anything from us.
Age requirement: You must be 18 years of age or older to opt in to and receive text messages from Crafton Press.
Message frequency varies by project. Most people receive a handful of messages during an active project and none otherwise.
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier's plan.
To stop: reply STOP to any message and you'll be unsubscribed. You may receive one final message confirming that.
For help: reply HELP, email [email protected], or call 816-307-1781.
Your mobile number and your SMS consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
11. Email
When you submit a form, book a call, or make a purchase, we'll email you about that request. If you've asked for our updates, you'll also get those. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor it. Transactional emails about a project you've paid for continue until the project is done.
12. Using the website
You may use craftonpress.com for its intended purpose: learning about Crafton Press and working with us. Please don't scrape the site, attempt to break into it, misrepresent who you are on our forms, or submit other people's information without their permission. The site's text, design, images, and sample pages are ours or licensed to us, and you may not copy them for commercial use. Book covers and titles shown on the site belong to their authors.
13. Disclaimers
We work hard on every book, and we're honest about what we can promise. We promise a finished, published book that sounds like you. We don't promise any number of sales, any ranking on Amazon, any review, or any particular result for your ministry. Publishing timelines involve third parties (Amazon, printers, ISBN registries) whose delays we can't control. Except as stated in these terms or a proposal, our services and the website are provided "as is," and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose to the extent Missouri law allows.
14. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Crafton Press is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost sales, arising from our services or the website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service the claim is about. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law. You agree to cover us against claims by third parties that arise from your material or from a promise in section 4 turning out to be untrue.
15. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. If something goes wrong, tell us first at [email protected]; nearly everything can be fixed with a conversation. Any dispute we can't resolve that way will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Jackson County, Missouri, and you consent to that venue. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
16. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as our services change. The effective date at the top tells you the current version, and continuing to use the site or our services after a change means you accept it. Changes don't apply retroactively to a project already under a signed proposal.
